Kind of funny that 2/5 of the series that I’m watching that appear in this list were things that I picked on a whim - 2.5D Seduction and Bye, Bye Earth. (The other three are Isekai Shikkaku, Failure Frame, and TenSura s3.)
Other stuff that I'm watching
- Dungeon no Naka no Hito (also picked on a whim, kind of okay?)
- Isekai Yururi Kikou (I’m considering dropping this one)
- QA in Another World (kind of a letdown to be honest)
- Dahlia in Bloom (pleasantly surprised with it)
- Elf-san wa Yaserarenai. (please don’t judge me on this one…)
- Maougun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta (Eh.)
- Mob kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyuutan (run-off-the-mill story, might drop it later)
- Naze Boku no Sekai wo Daremo (weird but so far I’m digging it)
- NieR 1.1 part 2 (I don’t play the games, but the whole 2B and 9S story is interesting)
- Spice and Wolf (I’m liking this version quite a bit)
- Shinmain Ossan Boukensha (silly premise, nice message, OK implementation)
Outside of Oshi No Ko, and Tower Of God, there’s nothing that is really grabbing me this season…
I’m also watching:
- I Parry Everything (Earnest, but meh.)
- Dungeon No Naka No Hito (meh.)
- The Fable (restarting a new story arc is expectedly slow, but waiting for a payoff)
- Isekai Suicide Squad (high budget, terrible writing, direction)
- DeDeDeDe Destruction (A really dark take on Doraemon, I sorta like it, but it’s difficult to watch)
- Tasuuketsu (There’s supposed to be some big brain stuff in there, but it’s too confusing. And cheap production values)
- Senpai wa Otokonoko (low key, but also feels boring. MC is a bit too boring so far)
- Nokotan (It’s wild but is it funny?)
- Bye Bye Earth (It’s pretentious to the point of having no meaning)
- Kinnikuman (Production I.G. does goofy battle-of-the-week anime-ized pro wrestling)
- Mayonaka Punch (Like Call Of The Night, but with a Youtuber?)
Dropped:
- Plus Sized Elf (smells like one joke)
- QA Isekai (boring direction doesn’t bode well)
- No Longer Allowed In Another World (meh, not my style of humor)
Want To Try:

You found the perfect word to describe Bye Bye Earth - pretentious. So far I’m watching it to see if it flies or crashes under my radar.
I’ll give Tower of God a check, I don’t recall why I skipped it in 2020.

Re: Bye Bye Earth - Yeah, I’m waiting for 1 or 2 more episodes to see if there’s a payoff, but I’m feeling cynical about this one.

I’m also surprised.
I think larger studios might be focusing on stuff that is likely to be popular with the kids at home for the summer vacations in Japan; if that’s correct odds are that the next season will see more isekai again in the top 15.
