Detective Conan Movie 27 opens 12th April in Japan. At Hakodate where the movie takes place, Conan themed Buses and Trams will run until end of September in collaboration.
There are a couple series that are absolutely massive in Japan that don’t have anywhere near the same following in the international audience. Conan is one of them. I can’t even wrap my head around a series that consists of 27 movies, more than 1100 anime episodes, and more than 100 volumes of manga. That is just an enormous output of content.
Probably half of those episodes are filler. Maybe about 100 of the filler eps are good though. I guess the movies kinda are too but they are generally pretty good.
Conan is serialized, so a lot of the content has to be “filler” so to speak. Otherwise you wouldn’t know what’s going on if you’re watching in random order. There is some progression, like new character developments and plot points, but most of the series is just Conan and friends solve mystery with little emphasis on plot moving forward.
I have to imagine that this is a PR collab that has a high likelihood of benefiting both parties
I got to ride on the Conan Super Hakuto train from Sannomiya (Kobe) to Osaka. It was such a cool experience, the train from top to bottom is retrofitted with a Conan-themed interior and a nice livery similar to the one in the picture there.
