I assume ‘tourist’ (in fandom spaces) got started in someplace just awful, but it’s a really nice word. I’ve always felt that being s casual fan of something was perfectly normal, so tourist is far more useful a word to use. I’m a casual fan of scifi and i wouldn’t go around making demands of the Aurora 4x devs/community or something, but a tourist would.
Minor complaints are fine but when they go and demand changes is where it gets irritating. It doesn’t just apply to anime but to other niche subculture like Warhammer, boardgames and itasha. I enjoy it when new people join the hobby but atleast spend some time to learn about it first before spewing all that garbage.
