I have been watching Sayonara Zetsubou sensei lately. Also Pani Poni Dash! is an interesting watch.

Hidamari Sketch is very underrated and is much less well known than it’s contemporaries like Lucky Star, but it’s basically the comfiest thing ever. Any CGDCT/SOL could work for this (Nichijou, Yuyushiki, Kiniro Mozaiku, K-ON!, …) but I specifically chose shows with a slower tempo.

Interesting mix of western and eastern calligraphy in the title. They do connect strokes within characters and also between characters (especially in kana shodo), but those flourishes are definitely western.

Crazy, Fairy Tail above nokotan. Sometimes I forget how action brained the average anime fan is. I watched all of FT before this release and I remember nothing from the last 50% of it. I guess they fought a lot or something lol.
As a slice of life guy I don’t really watch long anime anymore. Years ago, Jojos was the last one over 100 ep that I saw. The longest slice of life anime I have seen is the terrific and absolute classic “Hidamari Sketch” coming in at a bit over 60 eps.

You are probably referring to Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. There are a lot of SOL anime so I got to choose something. Personally I think it is pretty good but not as good as some other anime that I would recommend over it. As well as the fact that Bocchi the Rock has a mostly female cast so I unconsciously selected anime that are similar in that regard. If OP wants to try something with a large male cast this is the only anime I can think of that would be fitting so it’s good that you mention it.
What is similar? Does it need to be a band anime? Does it require social anxiety characters? Just cute girls doing cute things (CGDCT) in general? Have yuri elements?
- slice of life (SOL) with characters playing in a band: K-ON! (band aspect is secondary)
- SOL with anxious main character: Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu
- general SOL/CGDCT classics: Lucky Star, Nichijou, Azumanga Daioh
- more modern SOL/CGDCT: Kiniro Mosaic, Gochuumon wa Usagi desuka?
- SOL with yuri: Hidamari Sketch (moderate, also a classic), Yuyushiki (lots)
edit: I personally don’t think that Bocchi the Rock! is super laid back, but if you compare it to action shows it obviously is. If you really want to go the laid back route you can look into the genre Iyashikei (“healing type”) with anime such as Non Non Biyori, Yuru Camp (still have to watch this one so can’t verify personally but is very popular) and Yokohama Kaidaishi Kikou (absolute classic).
Maybe they can pull a fucking Gintama action and just show the story board and have the characters tell the viewers that the animators didn’t make the deadline :)
Favorite is tough is choose. But I think Hiiragi Tsukasa has the most moe for me.
The anime doesn’t have to be good, it just has to make you interested in the lightnovel, which is where the profits are. With that in mind, the cheaper the anime can be produced the better. This is probably why there are so many shitty isekai and they keep coming.

Gintama and City, hopefully 2025 is the return of good anime. Gintama and Nichijou are my only 10/10 anime so hopefully these new titles are really good.
