Actually a pretty cool project. Its smooth and works exactly how i would expect. Hopefully some companies use it and contribute money or code so you can keep improving it.
After the update a lot of users had to clear their browser cache. Possibly this is the issue?
If the internet or power goes out I read a book.
Uh… uh proper moderation tools and instance blocking for users!
I was just thinking of how useful this would be yesterday and like.magic you come through with it.
I don’t get this post. I don’t see any advantage of moving to a forum. As a user I’m still trusting you to host and not do what reddit. Which was your complaint about lemmy.
Fun with email was a great talk.

A video hosting service. I cant be bothered collecting and storing all that media.

Could lemmy.world put a load balancer in front and use that to direct requests to different instances of lemmy.world? Not sure if that question is dumb I’m not a technical guy.
Do you want this social media to be for your family to use only with family members or for them to use with family and beyond?
Revolt could be good as a local family group chat if you like the discord style. You’ve probably already tried it but Pixelfed/mastodon/misskey sound like the easiest to get family on board with and seem like they would be good family social media platforms IMO.
