Because they are fun, and comfy. And right now in a world where people are basically giving the entirety of their lives to work just to keep afloat that’s kind of what’s wanted. I have shows that have deeper story and are more engaging but I often find myself not watching them because I just don’t have the mental capacity available after work and I find myself wanting something like this that is simple no Stakes just kind of cute and funny that I don’t have to really put a lot of myself into.

And I’m far from the only one in that situation so these shows are popular and are the ones getting multiple seasons it helps that creating them isn’t particularly hard either

I didn’t realize that next Cloud was so bad, might I recommend people having issues try Seafile? Also open source and I’ve been using it for many years without issues. It doesn’t have as many features and it doesn’t look as shiny but it’s rock solid

If you just want file storage Seafile. Idk about all the other crap it can do but id imagine there are plenty of good options for each one. Immich is great if your mostly concerned about pictures/videos for example

This is definitely the better solution if your ISP supports it. ISP provider gateways are always garbage the auxiliary cooling may help but it will always have issues

I would like to recommend Seafile if immich doesn’t work out. I’ve used it for a long time and it’s always been the best self hosted cloud imo. it’s not as shiny or pretty looking as some but it’s been reliable
