I would agree that the tourism industry is cancer. Tourism itself is fine, i think.

Excluding poor people from traveling sucks and also makes the world worse.

I truly believe that lack of scope enhances racist tendencies and i think reducing the people who can afford to travel will increase racism.
Obviously the change would be small at first but it would further normalize charging tourists more which already happens in some places.

Try to find a local bike shop and chat with some of the people there. Let them know that you’re clueless and not ready to buy a bike but are trying to figure out what you need. Maybe make a smaller purchase like a helmet to support them in return for advice.

They may even let you test-ride a thing or two!
