Having such a big influencer as Pewds shout out selfhosting, ad blocking and general privacy improvements is a huge win, no matter what your opinion is of him.

Thanks for sharing looks rather promising!

Holy shit I almost whish I didn’t read through that list…So sad to see so many projects go down this path…

Thanks a lot for the insights. I have dabbled a tiny amoubt with nix so far and while it was steep i do feel like it was doable. I am very likely to fall into the rabbithole again soon, and as you say probably very smart to run proxmox underneath for stability and convince 😊

Welcome to Lemmy 🫶

Any pain points in specific you could point out?
Gotify is supposedly a good alternative. Looking into it myself now.

Best lf luck, hit me up if you have any questions regarding it 😊

Want to stress that it was not me personally who did this deep dive, its a repost from reddit. So all kudos goes to them!

Put this in obtanium as an alternative 🫶

Oh great stuff, this needs to be shared more 😅

Great ! I think its time we created the Selfhosted manifesto!

I tried it couple of months ago for a couple of weeks straight, but as someone who searches in multiple languages it just didnt do the job very well. I looked up multiple guides and tried to configure it to my best ability but the results just were not great. For search now I’m completely addicted to Kagi, by far the most polished and best results.
I will give it a try in the future when i acquire a GPU for AI, I will then pair SearXNG with OpenWebUI, think that will be a fun project!

Wowzie the new UI is even better than before, amazing work!

Not currently, but am planning on getting to it in 2026. I want to pull things to my Forgejo and use some workflows there to scan for vulnerabilities amd rebuild’n tweak images i deem necessary. It will be a fun project.

Talos is really awesome, its a minimal OS strictly built to run kubernetes. We use it at work and its running in production for a lot of people. Its extremely minimal and can only be used via its own api, talosctl command. Its minimalism makes it great for security and less resource heavy than alternatives.
Check this out for a quick’ funny taste of why one should consider using Talos >>

Talos is under MPL 2.0, afaik that is open-source.
Better late than never! Thanks for the tips aswell as your project, looks rather interesting 😊 Ill have to test deploy this when i get home!
