  • I’m so sad it’s over. I really like how all four of them now have something to work towards without having to compromise who they are in the process. This anime gets a 10/10 from me for sure. Definitely in my top 5 for this season.

The story wrapped up pretty nicely with everything being essentially resolved. I doubt there will be another season but I don’t mind. Mahiru learned to love her art, Kano performed in front of an audience of 50K, Kiui is more confident in herself and Mei gets to spend all day with her oshi 😍 /hj

Goodbye JELEE. It was a pleasure 🫡

  • Can’t believe it’s almost over. I had mixed feelings at first but I’ve come to really love this show. Can’t wait to see how the band deals with the view count. I can already imagine how each of the characters react. Still, 103 does seem oddly low so maybe there’s something sus going on? It also seems like we’re getting more context for Nina’s backstory next episode.

  • Ugh this episode hurt so much T^T

I got really bad vibes from Yukine when she was meeting with Mahiru. Not that she was lying or anything, but that her presentation was designed for the express purpose of wow-ing Mahiru more than a normal commission for an event, like she has an unfair advantage in the negotiation. After this job, it’s clear that Mahiru would have a much larger following and more offers, which would make JELEE take an even lower priority.

Even if this has nothing to do with Kano, it really feels like it’s a combo attack on all her vulnerabilities.

When Mahiru told the others about the job and Kano started freaking out, I kind of saw the blow up coming but I completely didn’t expect her to say those things. Mahiru’s crying face was just so heartbreaking after all their experiences together.

This is a really well made story. Also fuck dramatubers.

Edit: after thinking about it for a bit, yeah I hate Yukine. She sees her daughter as nothing more than a tool to achieve her ambitions. I don’t see that as an achievement to be celebrated if this is how she gets there.

spoiler for this episode and emotional damage

  • I started watching Cherry Magic on a whim and I wasn’t really expecting much, but wow it completely blew me away! It didn’t suffer from a lot of the frustrating romance clichés and I actually think I like this subgenre of romance.

I can’t really think of any other shows that are similar. Maybe “Netjuu no Susume” is similar but nothing else comes to mind.

I’ve added the manga to my library since it seems like it’s still ongoing. It’s possible that they intentionally scripted the anime to have a nice ending without loose ends since it’s unlikely to get a season 2, but I actually like that. The anime is a nice self-contained story that I think anyone who likes romance shows can enjoy.

Also when I was picking a screenshot, I came to my senses and realised that the one I originally picked was a huge spoiler lol. Good thing I realised before posting.

  • The voice acting at the end there really sent me lol.

Depending on how they handle the changes to the new plot, the “game plot” control might be addressed later in the story. If the manga is following these changes, we might actually get to see it even if we never get a season 2. At the very least, I don’t think the demon lord cursing Alicia would be very in character for him and would probably invalidate a lot of his characterization.

I’ve read up to volume 3 and I’m going to start reading volume 4 soon when I actually find time. This has been a blast honestly and I’m also really happy that there were enough people who enjoyed the series that I could have these discussion threads here!

  • It’s a bit different from the source material but honestly I actually like that Alicia’s character got a glow up. “Game force” feels a bit like a cop out but based on the events of volume 3, I have a theory.

I’m not sure how likely a season 2 is but there are a lot of scenes that I really want to see animated.

I haven’t yet gotten around to reading volume 4, and I might give the manga a try if it’s following the new plot with Alicia.

Also that moment between Yumiella and Patrick was soo cute ❤️

Spoilers for light novel volume 3

I doubt that the reasoning for Alicia losing control is going to just be “because game system” because that would be way too lazy. I wouldn’t say that the series is all that detailed but that would be way too stupid. It’s very likely that the god of evil is to blame for Alicia losing control. I suppose we just have to wait and see. I’m excited!

  • So we get a clear answer to Ayanokoji’s motives. Considering how this feels like an inflection point in the story, and with Horikita’s arc being essentially complete imo, it feels like it’s time to address the elephant in the room: Ayanokoji is broken af.

I’m probably going to start reading the source material once the anime is done airing. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen.

I have complicated feelings about this show. I really do like it, but there are several aspects of it that I really dislike, or that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It’s not bad enough to ruin the entire show in my opinion, but it’s still always at the back of my mind when I watch the show.
