  • I don’t know many anime watchers, and everyone around me loved it. One colleague had issues at first, I told him to get past the third ep, and he finished it that day.

I remember my first time. It was midnight, I knew I had to go sleep, but thought I check out first episode for the heck of it. The animation is beautiful, score is very captivating, so I decided to forego sleep a bit more. It was very lighthearted, kind of silly but in a good way, very unlike most anime I’ve seen before. Then I finished the series at 4AM absolutely emotionally rocked, I never cried so much in my life, and I have been through some shit.

It’s totally because the core feels very personal to me, and it gives me hope I’ve never felt or could imagine before. But everything other is absolutely top tier, too. I love Shaft, saw most of their stuff way back when, and this is definitely one of their most timeless pieces, because it’s so stylized. OST is kind of hard to listen to randomly, but fits the anime perfectly. And the story… it just feels right, and complete. Without any spoilers, definitely one of the very few complex story element implementations done correctly.

Unrelated to this, don’t ever watch anything beyond the anime, or first two movies. Anything after that never happened, is not related to this story, and Madoka is finished and done after the 12th episode.

I have VMs on my metal, one specific for containers.

Though I use LXC. Docker started with LXC, then grew bigger, and I don’t like how big it is.

If I can set up one simple NAT and run everything inside a container, I don’t need Docker.

Docker’s main advantage is the hub.

  • To be honest, I rewatch it every now and then, and it’s still powerful, and it honestly makes me emotional every time. Almost no other piece of media has that effect on me. Even though I remember it vividly, it’s still amazing, and doesn’t lose it’s impact.

So don’t worry about spoilers, the plot is great, but only one part of the experience. Soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, and visuals are on their own league (it’s Shaft, and a very specific style). Even if you know the plot, and haven’t seen it, I can basically guarantee that it will suck you in, and the pacing will make sure you won’t be bored.

10/10, I need to watch it again

  • Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is absolute best.

Spice and Wolf, No game no life, Baccano, Chihayafuru, Amagi Briliant Park, Ore Monogatari, or even Kakegurui, Black Lagoon, Jormungand, Gurren Lagann for series.

Ghost in the Shell for movies (Madoka also is in a movie form). I haven’t seen many movies, Spirited Away was OK, but not really for me.

I used to like Bakemonogatari, but after the years I’m not sure I would enjoy anything after Senjougahara’s arc. Angel Beats was also fun, but in a silly way. Aho girl is pure silliness.
