  • obviously a news show isn’t going to feel the same rewatching it. that’s not the point lol.

that would be like saying it’s dumb to preserve newspapers in libraries because it’s not going to feel as good rereading the “Hitler is dead” headline. people don’t look at old news to have a good time.

boy was it silly of us to preserve that kind of thing and it totally never comes in handy/s

that’s not even what people are upset about anyway. comedy Central mostly makes entertainment programming that isn’t news based and can still be enjoyed whenever. believe it or not, comedy Central has a lot of content that will stand the test of time. especially when looking at their stand-up catalogue.

this is the destruction of a library. a digital one, but a library none the less. that’s what people are mad about.

but you’re right. we should just dump all of our old movies and shows. they’re worthless moldy junk anyway… 🙄

  • Huh… That first season was so mediocre. The original show is heavily flawed and I was kind of looking forward to the first season because of that, But It’s just so bland. The art is very average and uninteresting the voice acting is fine, which is a big step up from the og. The music is way worse in the new one. The pacing is better. It’s a really mixed bag. They fixed the weak areas a little, but also lost most of what made it good in the first place.

IDK… I really wanted a new and improved Kenshin, but I’m not sure why this is even getting a second season. Was it popular in Japan? No one I know watched it over here.

  • it’s one of the only commonly known messaging platform to most people that:

1: isn’t owned by a company that many people hate, even if they don’t know much about it.

    2: isn’t platform locked and doesn’t discriminate.

3: doesn’t require money or verification to use.

i can see how it’s kinda settled out this way. whatsapp never caught on in the u.s. because everyone here was happy with sms and mms when the rest of the world was picking up Whatsapp. from what i understand that’s literally just because texting was cheap in the u.s… now people want more than mms, but apple is being apple about it so we need a third party app. by this point Whatsapp is owned by Facebook and the “privacy” of it is openly mocked by the average non tech person. everyone hates Facebook so the idea of willingly adopting another Facebook messenger that you’re not already on seems crazy. anyone that would accept that is just going to use Facebook messenger instead. anyone that wouldn’t will find something better.

Snapchat has no big controversies. no one knows who owns them. they don’t really try to be more than a messaging platform. i can see why people would uncritically choose it as their default. i bet it’s big among the kids who don’t play that whole blue bubble iphone supremacy game, but don’t use discord either. so i guess the non nerdy kids that aren’t elitist dicks. that’s who I’d guess uses it amongst the youth these days.

edit: before the suggestions come, I know these aren’t good solutions. I’m just theorizing why. getting my friends on matrix as best i can…

  • to the problem was more that it was too fast. came on too strong and quickly with trying to make you sad without getting you into the world or characters first. like there was nothing to the show outside of it trying to bate you into feeling sad.

that said, I’m glad you liked it. not trying to shit on you. i like one piece and that anime is objectively yeah.

  • i haven’t seen pancreas, belle, or little busters, but I differently like everything on that list. it’s funny how these shows impact people differently.

to me your lie in April is one of the less sad ones on the list. to me that show is more about acceptance and moving on. maybe it’s because I’ve never dealt with anyone with a terminal illness like that. my nurse friend adored violet evergarden, but didn’t find your lie sad to AT ALL. she simply dissociated herself from the sadness of terminal illness so she can do her job. the show was just boring to her.

I personally find a silent voice to be the saddest of those. a big part of that for me is the voice acting and the way they convey emotion, but also the way the story slowly escalates the emotional scenes from a quiet admission to a shaky angry scream or whatever. i think I also find the characters to be more believable than many anime with that large of a cast. not so much in that they act more like real people, but i find their circumstances and the ways react to them to feel… almost insightful?

  • it’s neither, it just lowers inhibition. so when you have that random thought like “what if i slapped that guy” you’re just not going to stop yourself. that doesn’t make you a good or bad person, everyone has different things going on in their head. what matters is the thoughts and actions we listen to and let live. like, no one is right all the time, but alcohol will make you feel like you are. leads to mistakes.

in this case I think it’s obvious that Rudy didn’t really feel that way, if anything he’s just confused and rejecting the “maybe you just need to go it the long and hard way” speech that he just got. that was him grasping at straws “no, it’s not because I’m emotionally damaged and need to work on that, she’s just got too small titties!” which if he wasn’t drunk, i think he’s now mature enough to think about and realize obviously isn’t the answer either. even if he was that shallow, all his other interests have had small breasts. like, it’s so completely untrue that he couldn’t be doing anything other than drunkenly trying to drown out the sad thought without thinking.
