Maybe technically not anime? But definitely something fans of anime will appreciate.
Episode 1, in case you’re somehow not among the 5 million who saw it.

Looking into it a bit, it seems similar to a fan project, but an original story. I think this wouldn’t be allowed if it were the anime subreddit, but I don’t think we need to be as strict in this community due to the currently much smaller volume of posts and discussion threads. The creator isn’t Japanese (Irish), but it does primarily feature the Japanese language and anime stylings.
Also, it’s the weekend, so…
It’s clearly by an anime fan, for anime fans, so aside from !animation@lemm.ee, where else could I share it?
The number of anime tropes that it integrates into the jokes is top tier :D
The only other communities I can think of off the top of my head would be the general videos communities (I am sure multiple instances have some like that). One thing I am wary of is that people don’t see posts like this and think that it is fine to post every episode of “(insert anime here) Abridged” or something like that. This at least features original animation from the creator.
Also, I am sure I am at least partially influenced by my nostalgia for indie animation. I used to consume tons of Newgrounds content back in the day and this has a similar feel to that.
It’s not just similar. Speedo is literally a newgrounds creator. Newgrounds is still a thing, and it seems to be growing. Guess it kinda helps that lots of platforms for creatives like Deviant have gone to shit, while Newgrounds has just kept chugging along.
Indie animation is having something of renaissance with Hazbin, Satina, Lackadaisy, Cliffside… etc.
And that’s without mentioning that Starbarians is somehow still a thing, while channels like MeatCanyon, FlashGitz and Doobus are absolutely exploding.
FlashGitz in particular is also starting en entire series and has a pilot out for Space King.
Plus James Lee seems to finally be getting traction.
