I was thinking, if I tend to create fanart or fanfiction of anime that I like, I want to be sure that I can reasonably share it with others. One of the gold standards of such permissive engagement is Touhou Project. Which animes do you think are closest to Touhou in that sense? Here’s a few that came to mind after some initial research, based on doujin prevalence. (also in MAL interest stack form)

Kancolle

Azur Lane

Project Sekai Movie (Hatsune Miku)

Fate/Zero

Idolmaster

Love Live

Hololive Summer 2022 (Hololive)

Kemono Friends

Madoka Magica

Revue Starlight

Is This Order a Rabbit?

Not in the stack, but I do remember Umamusume has well-defined guidelines.

Guys, help, I’m thoroughly out of the loop it seems. When did we establish guidelines and standards about fanart? Did I miss that meeting? Can I read up about that anywhere? I’ve just been drawing whatever the fuck my brain conjures up like I always have without worrying even one bit about what’s permissive - am I going to fandom jail? Can I plead ignorance if I promise to do better?

It feels to me like Gentlemen’s agreement. If a franchise have any guidelines for derivative works, it always include things like no NSFW, no crimey things, etc. Didn’t stop people from making rule 34 art. Let alone tons of NSFW AI slop.

Can I read up about that anywhere?

In case you’re curious, franchise official website should have it (if they have any guidelines at all)
Should find it following links like “二次創作” and “ガイドライン”
