    M: Demons are immensely powerful.
    F: True.
M: They wield magic we simply do not.
    F: True.
M: We reverse-engineer their techniques to even be comparable.
    F: True.
M: They understand emotions and logic in order to decieve us.
    F: True.
M: So as intelligent beings they are capable of being reasoned with.
F: NOOOO THEY ARE MINDLESS BEASTS AND DESERVE TO DIE. KILL THEM ALL, EVEN THEIR YOUNG!
    M: …

I do not understand how these points lead to the last one

A lot of animals have “magic” humans do not. There are a lot of examples where humans got inspired from nature, “reverse-engineering their techniques”. Cats and dogs are able to emotionally manipulate humans

This same line of logic could also be applied to like every villain ever. Pure evil villains exist, a fictional species in a mystical world is able to not have developed sympathy

The real evil is the murder of innocent dragons (another species described as intelligent) for like a spell that turns pink painted eggs into magenta painted eggs

Humans have empathy, yet how many will still eat pigs or beef?

Now add on a complete lack of empathy to the mix and you basically have the demon race.

I’m now imagining the animal equivalent of Frieren: a sleepy chicken walking the earth, absolutely erasing every human being it comes across.

That’s still humanizing the demons too much.

There’s at least human vegans / vegetarians.

There’s no equivalent to that for the demons. That’s the point 😅

And that’s despite chickens etc not being capable of human speech or looking human. The number would be much higher if they did.

They have tried raising them before remember? Frieren gave the example of the child demon that still killed it’s adoptive parents and more even though it had been forgiven and such. That same story implied that humans have tried giving demons chances in the past, and that every single chance didn’t work out. Not to mention there hasn’t been a single demon that’s talked about a “vegan/vegetarian” demon. With how long lived they are, that would have gotten around by now, especially for someone as long lived as an elf. At some point she would have heard of it too.

And every demon executed so far has been hostile, either attacking or already mid-hunt.

She doesn’t call them mindless, she says they have only one goal that their minds pursue. By all evidence presented in the show she seems to be correct.

She’s calling for the complete extinction of an intelligent species. I understand the paradox of intolerance, but humans/elves have proven they can best Demons without having to resort to that, and yet it’s a path she’s more than happy to choose

Plus, there’s so much magic to learn from them, and all that knowledge will be snuffed out. It just feels a little excessive

You’re literally being a pastiche of the guy trying to say zombies are just people with a disease as one rips your throat out.

You might well be right, but until the cure is being deployed you need to shoot them in the head.

And it’s good to question whether the protagonist is actually being reasonable about these things, it just so happens in this specific case she probably is.

I wouldn’t be particularly surprised if there was a peaceful demon village somewhere or another though.

On the last few episodes the child demon showed an actual interest in human society and supossedly there’s a demon studying humanity (tho, I’d not take a demon at their word, even to each other)
