Like seriously, the cel era, hand-drawn animated cars look a lot better in motion. In newer works, I only see well-animated moving vehicles in movies or high-budget TV series.
I’m more generous in rating seasonal TV anime that have well-done vehicle animation.
Additionally, in old school anime, they only put them into scenes when they really needed them, and only made them move when they really, really needed it. It’s easier to toss some mediocre 3d models into a scene. So we get weird, unnecessary vehicles more often. Also weird horses. So many weird horses.
If you want to ruin someone’s enjoyment of anime point out the horses!
