1st, I’m surprised no one is going for any of the low-hanging fruit: “why is my lemmy account stuck in Spanish?”, “feliz Jueves”, “Eva girl bathwater”, etc.
2nd, since I think it’s safe to assume at least some people won’t get the multilingual pun at play, the original intent of the “Agua de Rei” name is “water of (the) king” – tho I can’t be certain if it’s a local dialect quirk or a matter of marketing that it’s “de rei” and not “del rey”
Oh, sorry, alt text is such a rarity that the only place I ever check for it is XKCD. No clue who you’re calling out, tho.
If you'll allow me to be autistic for a moment to explain myself
I’ve gotten to the point of linguistic nerdery that I am just aware that there can be hundreds of regional dialectical variation among large languages like Spanish, and since I was raised with European Spanish (which likes to treat its Spanish as “real Spanish” and look down on Mexian Spanish as “y’alld’n’t’ve” troglodyte Spanish) I tried to outline that in my post. Sadly, my father was a Spaniard, so I never actually learned much Spanish.
Going in a completely different direction, since I am trying to learn Japanese I recently learned that, curiously, their name for Mexico is 墨西哥 (romanized “Mekishiko”). Not trying to correct you just a little oddity that tickles me.
a mod that deleted a !comicstrips@lemmy.world post I posted a day ago. The koma didn’t even need a localization, but deleting is more important than editing ╮(︶▽︶)╭
jajejijoju v. zazezizozu, “x” is used differently in 【メヒコ】。
