It’s A Place Further Than The Universe for me, both the first time and the first rewatch. Absolutely phenomenal series.

Also Violet Evergarden. Went from not caring about anime at all to a favorite pastime, and also rediscovering my emotions in the process.

    Haibane Renmei

Beautiful and thought-provoking show written by the same guy who did character design for the more famous Serial Experiments Lain.

It’s been a very long time, I really should give it a rewatch.

Haibane is one of my favorites. I wish it would get put on a streaming service so I can get people to check it out more easily

It definitely resonated with me, and it’s one of those creations I feel deserves to be more widely known than it is.

But then again, that’s what happens when you create art. What touches one person might not reach another.

Ghost in the Shell made me see consciousness as something separate from the body that can be moulded and changed over time.

It also made me want to run around and do parkour a lot, so now I have a healthy body. I still need to stretch more though >…>

Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again. This show is truly beautiful. No matter how many years have passed, how many hardships they had to endure, the love of the main characters has never faded.
Not only it motivates you to strive for that beautiful relationship but also really makes you appreciate your parents and grandparents as they won’t be around forever…

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity

Wonderful show. It’s a little saccharine, a little contrived, and narrowly specific to Japanese respect culture. But it does a wonderful job showcasing how to deal with issues of self-worth, communicating with intent and kindness, and how to constructively handle one’s emotions. It’s crazy that Cloverworks was making this, and My Dress Up Darling, and Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, all in the same season, and yet the animation quality is still high quality.

    Koe no Katachi

It’s heavily edited down from the source material - whole parts of the plot are cut to make the story fit into a single movie. But it’s a powerful and impactful story about the value of communication and redemption. There’s a lot of overlap with Fragrant Flower, but it touches on darker and heavier themes. The manga is worth picking up if you’re interested in more. Also, it’s made by Kyoto Animation, and it’s one of their best.

    Komi Can’t Communicate

This is more a personal choice, but I started reading Komi-san when it was around Chapter 100. There are 500 chapters in total. It’s… far far too much for a story about a girl, guess what, learning to communicate. But the best thing about the anime by a substantial margin is the first episode. This one episode alone is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen, and it’s accompanied by a heart-tugging OST. Watch just the first episode, even if you don’t watch anything else.

    Bocchi the Rock!

I have a hard time imagining an anime really changing the way I live or think, but FMA:B and AoT were what really got me into anime so I guess those are as close as it gets.

None. They are just anime but many many that have just brought a new dimension to the art. To many to count honestly. I would have to muse for quiet awhile. frieren, something like and my eternity, cells at work, and overlord are a few recents (recent for me. I have been off anime for awhile.)
