Reading the title, I thought this was going to be about lost media.
Someone in the comments there said the same author called SD Gundam “perfect from start to finish” like a month ago but I couldn’t find the article where he said it. I basically agree with all his picks though, a lot of anime was needlessly bowdlerised and made (more) insipid at the altar of “localisation”.
The points they made about Cardcaptors are mostly correct, but the adaptation we got also removed all the deeply problematic age gap romances which is a welcome censorship.

Sakura’s friend Rika is in a relationship with their teacher for one, apparently with an engagement in the manga according to wiki. I mostly watched the anime, so I’ll have to trust that. I think Kaho, their substitute teacher later on, is with Eriol, unless I read that one wrong. It’s been awhile.
A minor is in love with an adult teacher in the manga. The adult doesn’t go out of his way to deny the illicit relationship.
